MPLAB® Development Ecosystem for Functional Safety

When you are designing functional safety applications, using development tools that meet the requirements of safety standards can make it easier for you to create compliant systems. The ISO 26262 functional safety standard for automotive systems includes specific requirements for development tools. To help you with implementing system-level functional safety in your applications, we have received certification by TÜV SÜD for our MPLAB® XC C compilers for several functional safety standards and provide the complete certification packages for the MPLAB development tools ecosystem to help you qualify your projects.

Certified by TÜV SÜD for Functional Safety

We offer a TÜV SÜD-certified design tool package that supports all our PIC®, dsPIC®, AVR® and 32-bit MCU and MPU devices to make your tool qualification effort easier. The MPLAB XC Compiler Licenses for functional safety include all the documentation and reports needed to have a fully qualified ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62304 and IEC 60730 development environment. Our latest functional safety compiler package also includes all the documentation and reports for a fully qualified development environment for EN 50128, the functional safety standard for railway applications.

The documentation package includes TÜV SUD certificates for all four standards, a functional safety manual for the functional safety compiler version of your choice, safety plan and complete tools classification and qualification reports for our MPLAB XC compilers, and tools classification reports for MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment, (IDE), MPLAB Analysis Tool Suite and all MPLAB debugger/programmers.

Tool Safety Classification

MPLAB XC compilers are tightly tied to the creation of source code in your project. Therefore, they are classified Tool Confidence Level 2 and are subject to the most stringent qualification requirements. Every version of the MPLAB XC compiler is developed according to industry-recognized processes and stringently validated using a combination of industry-standard and extensive in-house test suites. This means that the MPLAB XC compilers are suitable for use in the development of a wide range of functional safety applications.

Simplify Your Functional Safety Certification

The combination of the TÜV SÜD-certified MPLAB XC Compiler licenses and MPLAB Analysis Tool Suite simplifies your functional safety certification when using our microcontrollers (MCUs) and Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) that are designed with functional safety in mind.

Other Development Tools

MPLAB X IDE CI/CD Wizard

MPLAB X IDE CI/CD Wizard

By using a Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) system, you can receive feedback quickly in your software development. Quick feedback can help improve the quality and reliability of your code by automating much of the building and testing process.

MPLAB Analysis Tool Suite

MPLAB Analysis Tool Suite

The MPLAB Analysis Tool Suite is a collection of analysis tools integrated into the MPLAB X IDE. It supports all of our MCU, MPU and CEC devices and offers a code coverage feature and a Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA®) check in the IDE.

MPLAB X IDE

MPLAB X IDE

MPLAB X IDE is an expandable, highly configurable software program that incorporates powerful tools to help you discover, configure, develop, debug and qualify embedded designs for most of our microcontrollers and digital signal controllers.
