More Than a Chip


We offer a broad portfolio of microprocessor (MPU) solutions to meet your performance, low-power, connectivity, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and security design needs. Our MPU offering includes a large variety of Systems on Modules (SOMs) and Systems in Packages (SiPs) that reduce design complexity by integrating different components such as memories, power management and wired/wireless connectivity to speed up your time to market and ease your supply chain.

Our easy-to-use MPUs include comprehensive development environments:

  • If you plan to design an RTOS- or bare metal-based product, you can use our MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and MPLAB Harmony embedded development framework that includes MPLAB Harmony Graphics Suite.
  • If you plan to use the Linux® Operating System (OS), you can continue to use a mainline Linux OS that includes a complete application-level graphics solution based on the Ensemble Graphics Toolkit (EGT), an open-source GUI.

SAM9 Series

Step up from a microcontroller (MCU)-based solution to a higher level of performance with the ARM926EJ-S core based MPU family, which runs at two or three times the speed of an MCU.

This family provides a rich set of peripherals, HMI and security features for transportation, industrial, home appliance and consumer applications.

SAMA5 Series

With an Arm® Cortex®-A5 processor core, the SAMA5 family is a step up in performance compared to our SAM9 family.

This family provides up to 940 DMIPS, a rich set of peripherals, HMI and security features for transportation, industrial, home appliance and consumer applications.

SAMA7 Series

Do you need higher processing capabilities for analytics or Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML)?

Does your next gateway design require advanced connectivity? We designed our SAMA7G family based on an Arm Cortex-A7 processor class that runs up to 1 GHz (1900 DMIPS) to support your transportation, industrial, home appliance and consumer designs.

SiPs and SOMs 

Our SiP and SOM options ease the design of an MPU-based system. They comply with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards and ensure signal integrity for high-speed interfaces and DDR memory, and in the case of the SOM, the Ethernet physical layer (PHY) as well. You can solder the SOM to a motherboard and take it to production or use it as a reference design for your custom hardware.

We also offer free schematics, Gerber files and a complete bill of materials online.We custom-built Linux and MPLAB X IDE and Harmony development code for SiPs and SOMs, allowing you to move to production even faster.

All our Linux development code is mainlined in the Linux communities, providing you full access to source code and long-term support. This also opens the door to the world’s largest developer community, providing access to qualified software engineers who can assist with your MPU-based projects.
