Offering a variety of power saving features, these devices enable you to extend the battery life in your applications.

Benefits of PIC24F XLP MCUs

Low-Power Sleep Modes with Flexible Wake-Up Sources

  • Retention sleep mode with full RAM retention
  • Sleep current down to 30 nA
  • Deep sleep current down to 10 nA
  • Flexible self-wake-up sources: special low-power Brown-out Reset (BOR), Power-on Reset (POR), Watchdog Timer (WDT), Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC), External Interrupts (INT), Asynchronous Master Clear Reset (MCLR)
  • Wake-up trigger from several peripherals

Flexible and Advanced Integrated Peripherals

  • Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) to offload the CPU such as as segmented LCD with autonomous animation, Configurable Logic Cell (CLC), Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC), multiple Capture/Compare Pulse-Width Modulation modules (CCPs) and more
  • Integrated USB and LCD drivers
  • Rich analog integration including 16-bit Sigma-Delta Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), 12-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and op amps
  • Crypto engine, CodeGuard™ Protection security and Flash One-Time Programmable (OTP) features

Long Battery Life with Robust and Reliable Features

  • Enable battery lifetime of 20+ years
  • Low-power supervisors for safer operation (BOR, WDT)
  • CIPs perform complex tasks at the lowest possible energy requirement
  • VBAT battery backup powered separately

Large Portfolio and Efficient Performance Across Voltage Range

  • 8–121 pins
  • 4 KB–1 MB Flash
  • Wide selection of packages
  • More than 80% of instructions are single cycle execution
  • Peripherals run autonomously in low-power modes

XLP Battery Life Estimator

The XLP Battery Life Estimator is a free software utility to aid you in developing low-power applications with our low-power PIC24F microcontrollers. The tool estimates average current consumption and battery life. The utility allows you to select the target device, battery type and the application’s operating conditions (such as voltage and temperature) and can then model the active and power-down times for your applications.

Featured Innovative Peripherals

LCD with Autonomous Animation

Animations like alternating between displays, blinking and blanking of pixels are common in most LCDs. The PIC24F ‘GU/GL/GP’ family of MCUs features an integrated LCD driver with autonomous animation to offload most of these animation routines from the CPU. This allows you to enable animation in power-saving modes while the CPU is in doze, idle or sleep mode.

VBAT Low-Power Operation

Do you need to conserve energy and implement a secondary power source to keep the state machine or Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC) value intact in your application? Find out how you can leverage the PIC24F family’s on-chip VBAT or core-independent peripherals CIPs to emulate VBAT functionality with minimal core intervention using a just few external components.
